What do you think motivates people to think of new ideas? Invent new things?
(this conversation allowed several students to reflect on a book they'd read with Ms. Jackson last year....the story of how Coca-Cola was "created").
- I allowed the kids to explore the question, "What does it mean to be reflective?"
- After defining this word as a collaborative group, I showed them how to make a personal connection (experience of emotional) that reminds you of a similar situation) to close their writing.
- We analyzed the writing together, letting them highlight "good writing" patterns they noticed in shared writing, and then some areas where I might improve my writing.
